Double Mono Stringer Staircases

Two supporting spines. A distinctive architectural rhythm.

A double mono staircase features two separate supporting beams beneath the treads, creating a balanced composition with an open appearance. The paired supports become part of the design, adding depth when viewed from the side or below. This style works especially well in open interiors where the staircase is visible from several rooms.

Pair substantial wood treads with dark metal beams for a warm industrial look, or choose light treads and white supports for a softer contemporary finish. Stone or engineered stone tread finishes can introduce pattern and texture, while specially designed glass treads offer a more transparent expression. Straight flights, turning configurations, and intermediate landings provide different ways to shape the stair around the space.

Glass railings keep the paired supports in view, while metal balusters or cable infill introduce additional lines and contrast. Wood or metal handrails, custom support colors, and concealed lighting beneath the treads allow the staircase to coordinate with surrounding floors, windows, and architectural details.

Personalize the paired supports, tread materials, railings, and lighting to create a cohesive design.
